My name is Yiting Hui, and I am honoured to be a part of the Calgary Hong Kong Arts and Culture Association. I am a visual artist and storyteller, passionate about uncovering the enchanting magic found in everyday beauty.

I earned my Master's degree in Architecture from McGill University and have since embarked on a dual path as both an architectural designer and a dedicated artist. By combining my design sensitivity with my passion for art and illustration, I have earned recognition for my art and mural commissions, as well as my participation in public art projects across Alberta.

My art exudes whimsical charm and a sense of illusion. The quiet competence and tranquil power of nature are my greatest inspirations. I am interested in exploring the power of visual storytelling and seek to craft works that resonate deeply with viewers, much like the silent language of the natural world. 

As a visual artist, I continue to seek a representation of my own cultural identity and to reconcile who I am as a Hong Kong Canadian within 21st-century Canada, allowing me to express myself artistically and uniquely in my work. I believe this is a common challenge for immigrant artists.

Being on the board of CHACA enables me to support an organization that aligns with my passion for supporting Hong Kong artists in Calgary through diverse artistic collaboration and opportunities, and creating a safe space where community connections are forged. I am delighted to be part of this passionate organization and look forward to what CHACA and Hong Kong artists in Calgary will continue to bring to the local art scene.
